Author Jaxon Barnes visited San Fernando Elementary School in Los Angeles, California to share Kiley’s Purple Hat with hundreds of kids. It was an all-day exciting event. The auditorium, decorated in Kiley’s signature flair by parents and students, warmly welcomed the author and the publishers to share Kiley’s imaginative story and colorful illustrations.
To appreciate how this special children's picture book inspired students, you had to be there and experience the questions the kids had for the author, and about the book. How did you come up with the name Kiley? Is it fun to write? How did you get the idea? Do you love to paint? Is it hard to illustrate? Some even shared how their entire class is working on an adventure book and how they loved working as a team.
And those weren’t the only questions. The children even enamored the publishers with important inquiries: How did you come up with the name OSAAT? What is publishing? How did you do the cover, spine and back cover? Do you love publishing books?
Many great questions were asked, even funny ones. The author was asked how old she was, to which she humored the children by answering “between 90 and 30”.
Girls and boys were equally engaged in the energy of the event. Everyone wanted a book, an autograph and photo with Jaxon Barnes. They loved the fact that it's a one-of-a-kind handmade book, and stood up from their chairs with their mouths open when the book was projected on the screen and the story read aloud.
From the bottom of our hearts, we at OSAAT Entertainment and Jaxon Barnes want to thank San Fernando Elementary School faculty and staff for opening their school to us for a day of storytelling, color and fun. It is further proof to our entire team that Kiley's Purple Hat is an inspiration to little artists everywhere.
