Born in Loveland, Colorado to Russian champion french bulldog ‘Islav’, and boston terrier ‘Maggie’, Dilla was raised by film producer and movie aficionado Gabrielle.
While living in San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles, Dilla quickly became enamored of watching movies and TV shows. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the TV show, not the movie) was his favorite. After hours of play and training, he would curl up beside his mom, always giving her a little lick before settling down to watch Buffy, letting her know how much he enjoyed it.
When he wasn’t watching movies and TV shows, he was watching his mom edit feature films and documentaries. This was Dilla’s early introduction into understanding film and his growing passion of the silver screen. He studied film intently and soon began to critique them. It didn’t take long for his talent and eye for cinema to become evident.
To date, Dilla has critiqued hundreds of films, from Indies to Blockbusters. Recently, he gave “3 paws” to Animal Cookies, showing at the Northampton International Film Festival. Newly released films Fruitvale Station and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire received 4 and 3 paws respectively, unlike Ted, which only got 1 paw (to hit the “STOP” button on the remote.) But that’s only half of what Dilla has to say about the films he watches.
Movie buffs and novices alike will get a kick out of Dilla sharing a Bite of Life, entertaining viewers with his take on movies from a dog’s perspective.
